Northdoor and the Salvation Army win security project of the year

Northdoor plc and The Salvation Army are proud to announce that their joint cybersecurity initiative has been named Security Project of the Year at the prestigious Computing Security Awards, held at the Hilton London Tower Bridge.

Chosen from among a host of exceptional entries, the winning project was recognised for its transformative impact on The Salvation Army’s data security posture, significantly enhancing protection across the charity’s extensive operations.

A Complex Challenge Met with Collaboration and Innovation

The charity sector has increasingly found itself in the crosshairs of cybercriminals, and The Salvation Army was no exception. Facing direct targeting of senior executives, vulnerabilities within its supply chain, and challenges ensuring consistent security protocols among staff, the organisation needed a comprehensive, resource-efficient solution.

Operating across 700 locations, with 2,500 laptops and 250 servers, The Salvation Army required a strategic security overhaul. Northdoor plc partnered closely with the charity’s internal IT team to design and deploy a multilayered security framework, integrating best-of-breed technologies — including Panorays, a leading supply chain security solution.

This collaboration resulted in a robust, sustainable security environment that safeguarded sensitive data, empowered employees through education, and strengthened executive protection.

Industry Recognition and Impact

“This award is a testament to the dedication and excellence of both teams,” said AJ Thompson, Chief Commercial Officer at Northdoor plc, who accepted the award alongside Miguel Fiallos, Chief Information Officer, and Jon Harrex, Head of Information Security, from The Salvation Army.

“You never embark on a project with awards in mind, but this recognition from such a respected panel validates the tremendous effort, innovation, and teamwork that went into making this initiative a success.”

Richard Harthill, Client Manager at Northdoor plc, added:

“Cybercriminals continue to target charities without hesitation, making it vital that organisations like The Salvation Army have the tools and strategies to defend themselves. This project demonstrates that with the right partnerships and cutting-edge solutions, even the most complex security challenges can be overcome.”
