OCR Studio Launches On-Device AI Toolset for Privacy-First KYC

OCR Studio has introduced a new AI toolset that works fully on-device and enables
banks, telecom operators, fintech companies, and other regulated businesses to run
KYC (Know Your Customer) entirely within their own infrastructure, without relying
on external verification providers. The solution helps companies shorten onboarding
times, protect themselves from impersonation attacks, and make sure that no client
data is exposed to third parties.

When it comes to KYC, businesses face two core requirements. First, the procedure
must be fast and seamless for the end-user – otherwise customers may abandon
onboarding, decreasing the conversion rates. Second, personal data must remain
confidential and under the company’s control. It is crucial to ensure data locality and
to avoid involving third parties in customer data processing whenever possible in
order to observe strict personal data protection laws that are already adopted in the
MENA region, Europe, and the USA.

With the new toolset, banks and other regulated businesses can build their own KYC
systems that let customers complete ID verification in just a couple of seconds while
keeping all sensitive data secure during ID scanning. The KYC solution automatically
extracts information from all data fields, including the one with the date of birth – this

is especially important for online age verification. Document recognition runs directly
on the end-user’s device thanks to the ultra-lightweight neural networks that execute
entirely on the central processor. No images are sent to cloud services or
crowdsourcing platforms which excludes the risk of a data breach and helps to meet
regulatory compliance.

In addition, the toolset contains a face comparison module. To use it, customers
simply capture a photo or a short video from the front or rear camera of their devices.
The OCR Studio’s solution automatically detects the face, compares it with the photo
in the ID document, and evaluates their similarity, helping businesses protect
themselves against presentation attacks and impersonation attempts.
The toolset can be easily integrated into a company’s infrastructure.

It can run on
corporate servers to perform KYC directly in the office or be embedded into mobile
applications for remote onboarding scenarios. For day-to-day banking and other
online services, the system can also be deployed on the company’s website via
WebAssembly technology. Regardless of service channel, the product delivers high
speed and accuracy when verifying customer identity. It ensures secure KYC from a
desktop computer, tablet, or even a mid-budget smartphone.
