  • Zbooni, one of the region’s fastest-growing companies, praises entrepreneurial spirit of MENA region as it reports 600% growth in 2020

  • Business growth fueled by ‘unstoppable rise of the region’s entrepreneurs’

Zbooni, MENA’s leading digital enabler for SMEs, has announced a record-breaking 2020, with 600% growth in volume of business across its platform. The business, which was founded in the region in 2017, saw accelerated acquisition of merchants looking for efficient solutions to help start, run and grow their business during what was a turbulent year for many industries. Zbooni, which has a range of powerful digital tools to assist businesses to interact, transact and engage with their customers, attributes its own success to the innovative attitude of its partners.

Ramy Assaf, CEO and co-founder of Zbooni, said: Our growth stems from the unstoppable rise of the MENA region’s entrepreneurs. Zbooni has simply provided a convenient platform that enables business owners to immediately achieve digital presence and growth. While 2020 was a tough year for many companies, businesses have risen to the challenge, with a seismic acceleration of SMEs going digital. This change to the merchant landscape will only benefit businesses in the long run.”

With offices in the UAE, KSA, and Jordan, Zbooni has witnessed transformational growth during 2020, making it one of the fastest growing businesses in the region. The company now has thousands of active merchants regularly engaging with over 150,000 end-customers and processing millions of dirhams of transactions every month.

Zbooni continuously enhances its dashboard to provide the latest digital merchant tools, including ways to easily interpret customer data. Through this, the company is seeing the benefit of its merchants being able to make better business decisions, grow revenues and map out a post-Covid future.

For 2021, Zbooni predicts that e-commerce businesses will grow as licensing becomes easier to set-up, drop shipping becomes ubiquitous and logistics capabilities continue to improve across the region. Zbooni also forecasts continued momentum for cloud kitchens, wellness and self-improvement, and more “at home services” where businesses visit consumers in their own houses for enhanced convenience.

Assaf continued: “We have seen a remarkable increase in digitization of products and services, a trend that we believe will continue well into 2021 and beyondOverall, many consumers are looking for homegrown products and services and we have witnessed momentum towards supporting local businesses rather than big multinational corporations. More than ever before, businesses in MENA are geared towards a digital future, and we are confident 2021 has the potential to be a great year for SMEs across the region.”

As for its own plans for 2021, Zbooni aims to grow its geographic presence across the region, scale its team to meet the increasing demand, and expand its service line to provide an even wider range of digital merchant services.
